Capital A Partners, known as CapA, is a micro-VC and angel fund focused on early-stage startups in the US and Europe, with a particular emphasis on cross-border opportunities between the Nordic region and the United States. Founded in 2013 and co-led by Tanya Horowitz and David Mendez, the firm operates between Stockholm and Charleston, South Carolina. Tanya Horowitz is a FINRA-registered M&A banker and asset manager with over 10 years on Wall Street and is also a Partner at Butterfly Ventures in the Nordics. David Mendez brings over 25 years of venture investing experience, having backed more than 100 startups, including four unicorns, and is also a Managing Partner at Good Growth Capital. CapA invests across a diverse mix of sectors with no single vertical focus, reflecting its generalist early-stage approach. Portfolio companies span AI, healthtech, fintech, sustainability, and consumer, including BoldBeam, Fieldstream, Kaptio, Conexbird, Questis, Readyly, Mantex, Unelma Labs, and Tennis Social, among others.
