About Serena Ventures

Serena Ventures is a San Francisco-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2014 by Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam champion. The firm raised $111 million in its debut institutional fund in 2022 and backs tech-enabled and AI-native companies solving critical, underserved problems across e-commerce, fintech, health, edtech, enterprise, social, and climate tech. The firm deliberately sources deals through Serena Williams' non-traditional networks in elite sports, entertainment, and communities of color — channels conventional VC firms rarely access. Over 75% of portfolio founders identify as women or people of color. Typical check sizes range from $100K–$300K at pre-seed and $250K–$500K at seed, with selective Series A participation. Notable portfolio companies include Esusu, Midi Health, Teal Health, Impossible Foods, Andela, Billie, Juno Medical, Rebelstork, Lolli, Calico, and Pachama (acquired by Carbon Direct). The portfolio has produced 16 unicorns and represents over $33 billion in total portfolio valuations to date.
