FireBrake fights ignition, not fire—using AI-orchestrated neighborhood networks to stop embers from igniting homes and prevent wildfires from cascading into catastrophic losses.
FireBrake deploys city-wide AI-orchestrated networks of environmental control nodes that detect imminent wildfire conditions and disrupts the pre-combustion process before homes catch fire. By reducing ember-by-ember ignitions by roughly 30–40% across a neighborhood and pushing community fire cascading below its runaway tipping point, FireBrake prevents the majority of neighborhood-scale losses using a tiny fraction of the water and resources required for full fire suppression.
Urban Wildfires cost cities upwards of $15-35M per square mile, and are almost impossible to stop once they've started. Prevention efforts are effective, but impossible to reliably justify financially because there is no way of connecting an expensive prevention effort to an event that subsequently didn't happen. We now have the ability to measure when the ignition probability spikes - before the actual ignition occurs - allowing us to intervene in an event that we can measure.
FireBrake protects cities using thousands of real-time connected and orchestrated wind-aided, automatic sprinklers, mounted on existing city street infrastructure. Functioning like an immune system, it senses local environments shifting past a hazardous threshold, the system deploys small amounts of water to subtly shift the overall environment back into a less hazardous state.
Company is led by a former aerospace engineer and firefighter, who has successfully launched another FireTech startup, with product in use by fire departments across the country.
