Who We Are 
Zoe Weston LLC is a dedicated educational and research entity led by Zoe Weston, a medical anthropologist with specialized expertise in the childbearing year, birth, and postpartum recovery. 

Motherhood is a rite of passage, a great transition in one’s life. Yet, for far too many mothers, this sacred moment is overshadowed by an invisible storm: postpartum depression (PPD). What should be a time of bonding and celebration becomes a harrowing battle against overwhelming sadness, anxiety, and despair.

Postpartum depression is a severe mood disorder that strikes during pregnancy or within the first year after birth, affecting approximately 1 in 7 women worldwide. In the United States, recent data reveals that about 1 in 8 women with a recent live birth report symptoms of PPD, with rates climbing as high as 1 in 5 in certain populations. Globally, around 10% of pregnant women and 13% of those who have just given birth grapple with mental health disorders, predominantly depression. These figures are not static; diagnosis rates have surged from 9.4% in 2010 to 19.0% in 2021, reflecting both greater awareness and the escalating toll of modern stressors. Yet, alarmingly, less than 20% of women are routinely screened for maternal depression, leaving countless cases undetected and untreated until they spiral into deeper crises.

Who We Collaborate With
Imagine a dedicated nursing student, passionate about maternal care, yet graduating without the profound insights of ancient women's wisdom, tools that could prevent the heartbreak of postpartum depression for countless mothers. In a field where modern curricula often overlook these holistic, culturally rich practices, our initiative bridges this gap by collaborating with nursing schools across the United States. Ultimately, we plan to partner with every nursing school nationwide to offer our comprehensive online course on the 8-fold ancient wisdom protocol as an elective for students or continuing education units (CEUs) for practicing nurses and faculty.
