Scraps and Sparks is a nonprofit creative reuse center and community arts space based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our mission is to inspire creativity, reduce waste, and strengthen community connections by giving donated arts, crafts, and educational materials a second life.
We collect surplus, gently used, and discontinued creative materials from individuals, businesses, schools, and organizations and make them available to the public at affordable prices. Our inventory includes fabric, yarn, sewing supplies, paper, scrapbooking materials, beads, jewelry-making supplies, paint, brushes, classroom resources, office supplies, and a wide variety of unique reusable materials for artists, educators, students, and makers.
Scraps and Sparks operates as a creative reuse store, educational hub, and community gathering space. In addition to offering low-cost supplies, we provide workshops, demonstrations, classes, volunteer opportunities, and special events that encourage creative expression for people of all ages and skill levels. By diverting usable materials from landfills, we promote environmental sustainability while making art and creativity more accessible.
Our customers include artists, teachers, students, homeschool families, nonprofits, community groups, crafters, makers, and anyone seeking affordable creative materials. We strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where creativity is accessible regardless of income, experience, or background.
The organization is led by a volunteer board of directors and supported by community volunteers who share a passion for art, education, sustainability, and community engagement. Our leadership team brings experience in education, nonprofit management, community service, volunteer coordination, and program development.
Through creativity, reuse, and community collaboration, Scraps and Sparks transforms donated materials into opportunities for learning, self-expression, environmental stewardship, and connection.
